Three Days in Paris – Day Two

Paris, I belive, is a man in his twenties in love with an older woman–John Berger After a lovely breakfast at Esprit St. Germain (they have the *best* tea! and ooh la la the cheese!!), we met our private guide, Andre Paul, to dive into the history of Paris on a morning walking tour. Andre Paul led us through the streets of St. Germain–some of the oldest in Paris and gave us a glimpse of pre- and post- Revolutionary Paris in several of its historic districts.   He spoke of the early restaurant culture in Paris–and that the word,...

Three Days in Paris – Day One

Paris is always a good idea!–Audrey Hepburn When my girlfriend and I were planning our wine trip to Burgundy, I jumped at the chance to spend extra days in the City of Light, Paris! A few nights ago, we celebrated Junior’s birthday with a tasting menu at Restaurant Eugene in Buckhead (Atlanta).  Junior has been working in fine dining for several years now and is working on his sommelier certification.  Since he has never experienced a paired tasting menu, The Man and I decided to treat him with one of the best in Atlanta. Restaurant Eugene is a small, upscale restaurant on Peachtree Road in Buckhead–just north of downtown Atlanta.  They offer local, seasonal chef-driven menus that are just spectacular!  Their Somm does an outstanding job with food pairing–just outstanding!!! This is why...

In days of old, I would purchase those bubble wrap wine sleeves (love them) and put a few bottles in the jumbo ziploc bags and double ziploc them.  They get carefully placed in my suitcase to...

Haunted Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta

Run Like Hell…the name beckoned….Run Like Hell through a haunted cemetery–the beautiful, otherworldly Oakland Cemetery just before Halloween??  Yes Please!!!    Last weekend, The Man and I enjoyed a costumed 5K run through Oakland Cemetery in Midtown Atlanta.  We’ve been exploring our new city as tourists in our own backyard and this seemed like a riot!!  As we entered the cemetery, The Man (who was alarmingly un caffeinated) spied a sign that read “BAR” and tried to sneak away before the run started.  I batted my eyes and kept an eagle eye on his presence until the start of...
