Roman Forum

The first moment I stepped foot inside the Roman Forum twenty years ago, I almost stopped breathing.  The stories of my youth of gods and goddesses, caesars and slaves, Paul and Peter came to life before my very eyes.  They were real……and they were grand.  I felt a little like Charlton Heston in Planet of the Apes when he realized he was not on another planet, but that he was gazing upon a lost civilization—his civilization.

The Roman Forum has changed a lot since my first visit—-there have been more excavations….more fencing….but it still takes my breath away.
